The Institute for Clinical Pastoral Training (ICPT) is a multi-faith chaplaincy educational community. We strive to expand interdisciplinary educational opportunities while promoting effective communication and collaboration amongst spiritual care providers in healthcare, prison, military, police, fire, and religious organizations.

The Institute for Clinical Pastoral Training (ICPT) endeavors to maintain and demonstrate the highest level of effective professional formation in various ministry environments. Our mission is to emphasize professional growth in ministry and protect the dignity of our trainees and those they encounter in ministry service. ICPT offers Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) to a wide range of individuals with differing religious beliefs and traditions. It is intentional that we treat each student trainee with respect and acceptance in the context of their own religious traditions.

Our Programs

The Institute for Clinical Pastoral Training is accredited by the Accreditating Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET). ACCET is listed by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) as a nationally recognized accrediting agency.


ICPT offers part-time and full-time Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and Supervisor in Training (SIT) units. You can learn about our certificate programs in our student handbook, by contacting us by email at info@icpt.edu or by completing an information request form.
